Google Places is a  free service from Google of course, to  allow a business  to list their business in their local neighbourhood and country for wider exposure and make it easier for people to find the business in Google search engine.

To add your business to the business listings, go to Google Places and fill in the application form -  business name, address, contact number, describe your products and services and submit the form. Google will send a PIN number to your address. You use that PIN number to activate your business listing  to publish your site in Google Place. That’s it. Simple. Your have just added another promotion method to your business.
