One of the ways to get rank high in the search engines is to get as many links as possible to your website. It can be a reciprocal link between your website and another site, both of you exchange links with each other. Getting a one way link from  a site is more difficult, though possible. There are a few ways, for example, submitting original  article to article directories, with your link in the resource box, pointing back to your site. Other ways include  posting to blogs and forums with your link embeeded in the post.  You can also buy backlinks from  SEO companies  which will put your site on  hundreds and thousands of other sites for a fee of course.
