Important AdSense Rules

One of the first mistakes an AdSense beginner often makes is ignore AdSense rules. They assume that all the AdSense rules they need to know comes under the label of common sense. Often their eagerness to get onto the scheme and start making money overwhelms their need for careful planning and patience.

After all, so much work goes into putting together an AdSense website (especially if you’re completely new to the scheme). For example, researching and writing content as well as marketing and promoting a site that often reading up on Google AdSense rules is the last thing on your mind.

But ignore AdSense rules at your peril.

It is essential that you know AdSense rules so that ALL your planning and hard work doesn’t go to waste. There are rules for every aspect of the scheme. Rules that are outlined in Google AdSense website in order to ensure that the scheme runs smoothly. An important point to note is that Google takes the breaking of rules seriously and infringement can be punished by a permanent ban. There is no reason not to know AdSense rules, so ignorance is no excuse.

Important AdSense rules to know involve, click-behavior, website content and copyright rules. But other rules to also keep in mind are ones that discuss traffic sources, tampering of AdSense code and ad placement.

The rules regarding click behavior is extremely simple, yet it is astonishing the amount of publishers that break this rule. Basically, you cannot click on your own ads and you cannot encourage friends and/or family to click on your ads for you. If you were allowed to do so how could AdSense work? What incentive would there be for Advertisers to use the scheme? Remember, AdSense wasn’t developed for YOU to get wealthy; it was developed for Google to get wealthy. And for Google to get rich it needs AdSense to work, therefore you are not allowed to cheat. Google has a number of ways of monitoring click behavior, so it is not advised to even ‘think’ about breaking this rule… it’s the easiest way to get banned.

AdSense rules for website content are clearly stated on their site. No offensive material of any kind is allowed to be posted on a website that contains AdSense ads. Basically a website that contains questionable material or in other words material your mother wouldn’t be pleased with is not acceptable.

Also gambling, hacking and material selling or promoting things like guns, knives, tobacco, drugs etc… is not allowed. Be wary of this rule… if your site contains material on the borderline it could get you banned.

If possible, play it safe with AdSense especially if you value your membership with the scheme. Make sure you visit Google’s site and go over their rules concerning the use of their AdSense program. It could possibly save you a lot of unnecessary trouble.
